The Huayhuash Mountain Range
A journey that captivates with the unspoiled natural beauty of the Andes in northern Peru, where we’ll be surrounded by majestic mountains rising over 6,000 meters in altitude, alongside beautiful turquoise glacial lakes. An event designed for photographers and nature lovers who want to experience a mountain trek with all the services and safety protocols required to make this an unforgettable experience.
We have chosen the best season to visit the Huayhuash Range to capture the colors, atmospheres, and contrasts that highlight the area’s landscapes. We will focus our attention on the scenery, making the most of both day and night, when we will be accompanied by the Milky Way in all its splendor. We have also planned a period of acclimatization in the city of Huaraz (3,020 m) to gradually adjust to the altitude.
Huayhuash is one of the most beautiful mountain trekking circuits in the world, but it is also physically demanding, as the hikes take place at an altitude of over 4,000 meters. That is why we recommend this trek only for people who arein good health, physically fit, and accustomed to hiking at high altitudes. Participants who feel they are not physically prepared may request the services of a personal horse to assist them on the most demanding sections.
A great photographic adventure awaits us in the Heart of the Andes!

DAY 1: Huaraz, Peru
Our meeting point will be the airport in the city of Huaraz, Peru: Anta Airport (ATA).

DAY 2: Huaraz
After lunch, we will begin our second day of acclimatization in Huaraz. We’ll hike to a scenic overlook where we can photograph the sunset and the blue hour against the backdrop of the beautiful Cordillera Blanca.
Distance to be covered: 5 kilometers

DAY 3: Huayhuash
We’ll wake up very early to travel by bus to the Huayhuash Mountain Range (elevation 3,830 meters), where we’ll begin our first trek to reach our first campsite at Carhuacocha (4,125 meters) and enjoy our first sunset against the backdrop of the majestic mountains. In the evening, we’ll have the opportunity to gaze at and photograph the Milky Way in this beautiful setting.
Distance to be covered: 9 kilometers

DAY 4: Huayhuash
After photographing our first sunrise in Huayhuash and enjoying breakfast with a unique view, we’ll begin the ascent that will take us to one of the most spectacular spots: the Three Lakes Viewpoint. We’ll hike a trail at the foot of Nevado Siulá until we reach a viewpoint where we can photograph the 03 Lagunas from above. Possibly the most spectacular mountain location in the Peruvian Andes.
Distance: 14 kilometers total

DAY 5: Huayhuash
Our day will begin very early in the morning so we can photograph the sunrise—a must-see spectacle—against the backdrop of the majestic Nevado Yerupajá: Peru’s second-highest mountain, standing at 6,635 meters. After a hearty breakfast, we’ll hike to our next campsite, which offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the main peaks of the Huayhuash Range.
Distance: 10 kilometers

DAY 6: Huayhuash
Discovering the majestic snow-capped peak of Jirishanca. We’ll go on a trek to climb to a viewpoint and photograph the summits of the snow-capped peaks: Jirishanca, Rondoy, and Ninashanca. Along the way, we’ll come across small waterfalls and rivers where we can take long-exposure photos to capture the “silk or bridal veil” effect. And at night, we’ll have the opportunity to do astrophotography.
Distance to be covered: 6 kilometers

ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY IN HUAYHUASH
On our trek, we’ll enjoy the scenery not only during the day but also at night. The sky over the Huayhuash Range is one of the darkest in the world and among the best for stargazing and astrophotography, thanks to the high altitude and its location far from artificial light pollution. We will offer a talk and guidance every night so that participants can learn the techniques for photographing the night sky and capture the Milky Way.

DAY 7: Huayhuash
We’ll set out very early in the morning to a strategic spot to capture the first rays of sunlight against the backdrop of Mount Jirishanca. After breakfast, we’ll begin our hike across the Huayhuash Range and take in the view of the valley from the 4,750-meter-high Cacanán Punta Pass. We’ll likely be able to photograph condors from this vantage point. After lunch, our vehicle will be waiting to take us back to the city of Huaraz.
Distance: 12 kilometers
