The Cordillera Blanca is a section of the Andes located in northern Peru and is considered the highest tropical mountain range in the world. We’ve put together a photographic tour of the most photogenic areas, which we’ll explore during our day and night excursions. Before us lies a mountain range surrounded by glacial lakes and peaks exceeding 6,000 meters in altitude—a sight that will leave us in awe from the very first moment. We’ve chosen the best time of year to photograph the Milky Way at night under one of the darkest skies in the world, capturing the stars, planets, and constellations surrounded by Andean landscapes.
This is truly a magnificent tour where nature reveals itself in its purest and most majestic form—perfect for all mountain lovers and those seeking adventure, contemplation, and a deep connection with the universe.

DAY 01:
Huaraz, Peru
The tour will begin at the Huaraz Airport, Anta (ATA).
Our staff will be waiting for the group at the airport to take us to our hotel, where we’ll
hold a briefing about the tour. We’ll head out for our first trip to Huascarán National Park to photograph
the Cordillera Blanca at sunset.
DAY 02 and DAY 03:
Huascarán National Park
After lunch, we’ll head to the southeastern part of Huascarán National Park: a high-altitude plateau region with mineral-rich rivers and breathtaking views of the mountains: Huarapasca, Tuco, and Mururaju. We’ll visit the famous Forest of Giant Titankas—plants that grow over 10 meters tall and serve as a habitat for numerous Andean birds. We’ll also visit a secret spot where we can photograph the Milky Way reflected on the lagoons.
DAY 04:
Ulta Gorge
After lunch, we’ll head to the northeastern part of Huascarán National Park to visit the Ulta Gorge. Along the way, we’ll have the opportunity to climb to 4,700 meters and cross the Andes Mountains to photograph beautiful lakes.
If luck is on our side, we’ll be able to admire the flight of the Andean condors in this valley, which will leave us in awe of the surrounding ice-capped peaks.
DAY 05:
Llanganuco Gorge
After breakfast, we’ll head to the Llanganuco Gorge to photograph two beautiful turquoise-colored lakes—

surrounded by quenual trees. At sunset, we’ll climb to one of the lookouts to photograph Peru’s highest mountains during the golden hour and blue hour. Among the most notable mountains are: Huascarán (6,768 meters), Huandoy (6,395 meters), Chopicalqui (6,354 meters), and Chacraraju (6,110 meters), among others.
DAY 06:
Volcanic Rock Forest
After a theoretical talk on techniques for “capturing the Milky Way,” we’ll head to the southern part of Huascarán National Park to visit Conococha Lake and the Volcanic Rock Forest. We’ll photograph a spectacular sunset from a natural viewing platform
located at an altitude of 4,200 meters, as we wait for nightfall when the Milky Way will reveal itself in all its splendor. Then we’ll return to Huaraz.
DAY 07:
Parón Lagoon
Our day will begin very early in the morning with a trip that will take us to visit the largest glacial lake in the Cordillera Blanca: Laguna Parón. Undoubtedly one of Peru’s most beautiful lakes, with turquoise waters nestled at the foot of the majestic Pirámide de Garcilazo mountain (5,895 meters). This is the perfect spot to take the best profile photos of our participants!
DAY 8: END OF THE TOUR
Return to Lima – END OF THE TOUR
After breakfast, we’ll pack our bags for the transfer to the airport.
Arrival in Lima is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.

Jheison Huerta
The expedition will be led by Peruvian photographer Jheison Huerta and his team of collaborators. He is the founder of Photo Andes, an agency that has been organizing photography tours since 2014 to some of the most photogenic destinations in the world, such as Peru, Norway, Iceland, Morocco, Bolivia, Italy, and Argentina, among others.
He is currently a Sony Brand Ambassador and Alpha Partner for Latin America. Jheison Huerta has received international recognition for his work in promoting astrophotography, which earned him recognition fromNASA through the APOD (Astronomy Picture of the Day); He also teaches the astrophotography course on the Domestika platform, and his work has been featured in leading media outlets: BBC, National Geographic, History, Mirror, Telemundo, Globo, El Comercio, and many more. He was nominated by Photopills as one of the 25 most inspiring photographers in the world, and his work is featured the book “Photopillers of the Year 2020.”
He is currently collaborating with National GeographicUK on the production of the series“Welcome to the Earth,” hosted by Will Smith and streaming on Disney+.
